Hand Controls allow people without lower mobility the ability to drive using their using hands.  Hand controls are custom fitted for each person driving to suit specific needs.  Brake and gas pedals are typically mounted below the steering wheel and attached to the pedals. There are primary hand control systems to control acceleration and braking as well as secondary units that help control the blinkers, windshield wipers, and gear shifts. AMS Vans of Indiana provides a variety of car hand control modifications for wheelchair vehicles.

Hand control systems do not interfere with standard driving, and the vehicle can be driven by people not using the hand controls without having to remove them from the vehicle.
